Curriculum

At CIS we deliver the National Curriculum for England which offers a broad and balanced learning experience for our students. This provides us a structure that is engaging, relevant and dynamic. We believe our National Curriculum ‘plus’ provides students with the essential knowledge they need to be educated citizens within a technology rich, Nigerian context.

The curriculum is divided into Key Stages. We begin with our Foundation Stage for children aged from two and a half to 5 years old. Key Stage 1 is for students in Years 1 to 2, followed by Key Stage 2 which covers Years 3 to 6. Children then move into CIS Secondary School and begin Key Stage 3. Every step of the way the students have a strong team of teachers, Heads of Year and Key Stage Coordinators working together to ensure their success.

All year groups in Key Stages 1 and 2 have lessons in English, Mathematics, Science, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education, or PSHEE, and Topic which consists of History, Geography and Religious Education. Our amazing team of specialist teachers deliver Music, Art, Computing, French, Physical Education and Swimming each week. To supplement this already rich curriculum we incorporate
African Studies. It is important that children understand more about the heritage, geography and language of the continent in which they live.

We believe our curriculum prepares the students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they will encounter as they grow. It is a curriculum filled with high aspirations, creativity and excitement, which fosters a lifelong love of learning.

Don’t just take our word for it, book a tour and come to see for yourself.

The teachers make learning fun and allow us to express ourselves.
